monteI was 25 when I first made the determination that I wanted to be Enlightened. So I restructured my life. I gave up playing rugby and began to practice Tai Chi. Instead of working a 9 to 5 job in the city, I moved to a cabin in the northwoods and spent my time chanting, chopping wood and writing. I was trying to live in harmony with nature.

My early efforts were at times greatly rewarding as I had glimpses of seeing life through "pure soul eyes" (see Perspective).

After a year spent in the woods, I ended up back in Milwaukee, but I kept up my practices and added Yoga and sitting meditation the mix. Much of the time, my training was intense.

However, by the time I was 32, I was back in the working world and thinking to myself, "Well, maybe Enlightenment will happen in my next lifetime"...

But I did keep up with my practices and here I sit at 41 years of age and think to myself, "well maybe someday..."; so the adventure continues. I now try to get up at sunrise and meditate. Tai Chi works well for me in the mornings too. During the afternoons, I practice mostly standing meditation and chi kung. Late evenings are sometimes a good time for my yoga...

- (The ancient Taoists knew that moving and static meditation practices compliment each other). - (see Taoism).

As my practices slowly evolve, so does my connection to the Tao. To tread on the Taoist path is indeed a challenge in this world, (see Hire A Taoist). However, the benefits of a Taoist mindset are considerable. As our energy becomes more synchronized with the universe, our intuition sharpens, our vitality increases and our lives become more joyous. (A Taoist perspective is indeed beneficial to society). Hopefully, my poetry, essays and music, (the music is a team effort), will help inspire others to embark on a Taoist journey, - a path of adventure, relaxed strength and peace.

If you unite sound with vision, then you will create light. That light is the concentrated force of mind. It is by that brightness that truth is revealed. --Tao
